Some points of interest we hit:

Today we begin our adventure. Neither of us remembered to check-in early so we were at the end of all Southwest seating lines. Thankfully, no one likes middle seats so we were still able to sit towards the front of the plane for fast egress. The flights were mostly uneventful and the plane landed successfully. Because of our optimal seating location, we were first in line at the car rental counter and we were given an almost brand new Nissan Rogue. ‘Rogue One’ in honor of May the 4th. haha, nerds.

Well, of course, we need to eat while on this trip and of course we will flock to a Grocery Outlet rather than restaurants. So, Grocery Outlet was the first stopover in Bellingham. And unsurprisingly, we found good deals and too many of them. Now we have a bounty of sugar. And some healthy chicken breast, which is eaten on blueberry sugar-encrusted bread.

We head through town towards the hotel. There are some interesting houses and an interesting vibe. The hotel sits right on the bay and next to a great walking trail over the water. Train tracks run right between the hotel and the water. We find the hotel and wind up in the tiny underground garage. Instead of taking the elevator, we take the stinky garbage stairs and head to the lobby. Sadly, the room is not ready for us. They must still be trying to clean the filthy toilet. Outside of the hotel, we admire their flowers.

We take this opportunity to explore South Bay Trail. Right by the hotel, a path leads down to the water and traverses over the water for a good distance. We follow the trail for about 2 miles and head back towards the hotel. The weather is pleasant for our jaunt. A nice breeze is blowing and the sun is out for the most part. It is a bit humid however.

After our walk, we haven’t been notified that our room is ready so since we like pain and heart-rate spiking stress, we decide to head up the super steep hill behind the hotel. It reminds us of Suncrest steepness, or the Schwende hotel driveway. Between the cringes and leg cramps, we admire the beautiful yards, flowers, and breeze. It’s Tulip season around here so the yards are full of colorful tulips. Finally, we reach the top and turn around for the treacherous hike down the hill. As we are gasping for air, we notice a crazy person has been running up and down the hills with ease. Maybe one day we will be at that level of fitness!

The room is finally ready for us so we check that out. It’s spacious, has a window seat and a fireplace. It also has an open concept bathroom. You can sit on the toilet and gaze out the window across the room. Speaking of the toilet, the past tenants must have had a bit of a nightmare toilet experience and we know this because they left the evidence for us to find. Gross. Yuk. Fortunately, someone came and sanitized our toilet.

Dinner was varied; we tested out the variety of our Grocery outlet score. We enjoyed a nice breeze from the window and nice warmth from the fireplace.

Now, we need to plan for tomorrow’s adventure!
