    Some featured areas we visited:

Our last day in Switzerland for this trip. It is rainy and cloudy. This is a good day for rain and clouds because we aren’t doing any hiking. We enjoy one last wonderful breakfast buffet at this hotel and then head out to the train station.

The train ride to Zurich is relaxing without any craziness happening.

At Zurich, we find the lockers and stuff our suitcases inside so we can walk around unburdened. We see some painted buildings, the river, lots of police, and tour some churches/cathedrals. Now it is time to head to the university to get qtips shoved up our noses for our covid testing. They are pretty organized and friendly. We all check in and take turns getting our noses cleaned. For some, this was incredibly painful. These were the first ones to go and so the rest of us were expecting intense pain and torture. However, apparently, some of us have really big nostril holes and having a circular brush on a stick shoved up our noses and into our brain and then spun around for 10 seconds didn’t really hurt. It only cleared out the hard to reach snot. The results came back fairly quickly and we all received negative results! Good news. Now, with travel certificates in hand, we headed out to enjoy the rest of the day. We toured some parks and checked out the protest. We stopped for some chocolate at Coop because there was not a Coop by the hotel. Thankfully we all have travel grocery bags so we can carry the chocolate around easily. The train to the hotel was a bit crowded, especially for us carrying around our suitcases and bags of chocolate.

The hotel is very nice inside and the staff are friendly. The checkin process is smooth once they were able to find all of the reservations. We dumped our suitcases and headed out to do the rest of our chocolate shopping. Perhaps, we overbought chocolate (we definitely did). Back at the hotel we congregated in the lounge area and enjoyed hot chocolate and tea with sandwiches and chips.

We are all waking up early in the morning to have breakfast and then catch the bus to the airport so we all head back to the rooms to sleep or pack.

This was a great trip! We had great weather, great food, and a lot of great adventures! Thanks for following along with us and checking out our photos and excursions!

    1. Only one photo came up. I waited 5 minutes – still only one.

Zurich is where some early Anabaptists were thrown into the river to drown for their faith – considered heretics. Our Kauffmann, Birky, Nafzier, Litwiller, Good relatives came to America as a result of the persecution. I think only the Kauffmann, Birky relatives came out of Switzerland. The rest from France and Germany. All for the same reason.

So grateful for your sharing your travels. Your number of sun filled days amazed me.

      1. I took too much time packing all the chocolate in my suitcase and didn’t have time to update the photos and blog, but the photos have been added now.
Thanks for following along on our adventures! We enjoyed your daily comments and insight about the areas and family history. That is interesting about the Zurich river. I did not know that before. Now, I will never look at that river the same.
We were very fortunate for the sun filled days because the forecast called for rain and clouds many of the days.
