It’s Day 2 of our Switzerland trip and the first full day in Spiez!
Today was an insane hike. The day begins cloudy but on the walk up to the train station we get a glimpse of Niesen peaking through clouds. We ride the train over and no lines no waiting! Head up on the trams. This is a super steep track! The views at the top are gorgeous! We are above the clouds and get a unique perspective. Everyone is happy excited and ready for anything. Little did we know…
We decide to hike to the next stain instead of taking the train. Long story short because I need to sleep before or next epic hike tomorrow… The trail became a sketchy, poop-filled, sloppy, slippery, muddy, pothole abounding nightmare. We experienced some outrageous slips. The trail has probably not been traveled by any other human for a while. It’s too late to turn back so we keep heading on. After a while the trail becomes a different nightmare. Steep downhill with rocks, roots, trenches, water, and other surprises. We did however have a pleasant lunch and rest by a creek and mini waterfall. Some dipped their feet. Some drank the water fall upstream of the feet. We did make it to the train station eventually and had a relaxing delicious Spätzli dinner. Lots of Aktion desserts as well! The views on this hike were breathtaking. Some said this was the worst hike by far they had ever ever done. Poor introduction to Swiss hikes for the new travelers!
