20100914 Murren Day 2

Breakfast was served downstairs in the main room. There were varieties of cereals, yogurts, breads, jellies, tea, juice. It was quite delicious. I had quite a few slices of the braided bread with jelly, some cereal with berry yogurt mixed in, orange juice, and tea. A few other people staying in the house were there and we all chatted about plans for the day. one of the ladies grew up on Hickok Street!

Today’s Plan of Attack: Gimmelwald –> Stechelberg –> Lauterbrunnen –> Trummelbach Falls –> Lauterbrunnen Valley –> Gondola to Grutschalp –> Train to Murren

After breakfast, we packed up our hiking bags and headed out for some exhilirating exercise. Headed right out of Chalet Fontana. Walked a bit until we came to a gap between two houses, which apparently is the path to Gimmelwald. Of course, the area is extremely beautiful! I stopped every few feet and had to run to catch up with Dad, Mom, and Dan. Thankfully, I never flew into them or off the trail!

We reached Gimmelwald quickly as Mom took a really speedy pace, thanks to her shock absorbing walking sticks. At Gimmelwald, we looked around for the fruit and yogurt shop, but everything was closed – all shops seem to close between noon and 2.
